HYPOCRITES
WEBSTERS: One who pretends to be pious,
virtuous, etc., without really being so.
This
seems to be the world's idea of what a hypocrite is but really is no
help in the matter. We all know
there are no 'perfect' people doing anything especially people who go
to church. We know it is through Jesus that we have anything
about us that is good.
So lets leave the world's definition of a hypocrite behind and lets
see what the BIBLE says about being a hypocrite.
I have this study in scripture form. I have no comments. Just that my heart breaks when I read God's
definition of a hypocrite. I
will leave these scriptures to you and the Holy Spirit.
It is an easy read. Doesn't
take very long. I have highlighted
a few words in bold or color but that is all.
Blessings from our PRECIOUS JESUS as you read this study. I have an email site if you would ever like
to share your thoughts about this or any other thing on my site. I would appreciate all thoughts.
Matt
15:7-9
7
Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8
This people draweth nigh unto me with their
mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from
me.
9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments
of men.
KJV
Isa
29:13
13
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with
their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but
have removed their heart far
from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
KJV
Ezek
33:31-32
31
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee
as my people, and they hear thy
words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew
much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
32
And, lo, thou art unto them as
a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant
voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words,
but they do them not.
KJV
Jer
12:1-2
12:1
Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk
with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper?
wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?
2
Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they
bring forth fruit: thou art near
in their mouth, and far from their reins.
KJV
Mark
7:6-9
6
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites,
as it is written, This people
honoureth me with their lips, but their
heart is far from me.
7
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctines the commandments
of men.
8
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men,
as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye
do.
9
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that
ye may keep your own tradition
KJV
Titus
1:16
16
They profess that they know God; but
in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto
every good work reprobate.
KJV
Job
27:8
8
For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God
taketh away his soul?
KJV
Hypocrites =
False Prophets
Matt
7:15-16
15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns,
or figs of thistles?
KJV
Mark
13:22-23
22
For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs
and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
23
But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
KJV
Col
2:8
8 Beware lest any man spoil
you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men,
after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
KJV
2
Peter 2:1-3
2:1
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall
be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,
even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift
destruction.
2
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way
of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise
of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation
slumbereth not.
KJV
Rom
16:17-18
17
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which
cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have
learned; and avoid them.
18
For they that are such serve not our Lord
Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches
deceive the hearts of the simple.
KJV
Col
2:4
4
And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
KJV
1
Tim 4:1-2
4:1
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall
depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines
of devils;
2
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their
conscience seared with a hot iron;
KJV
Acts
20:29-30
29
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter
in among you, not sparing the flock.
30
Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to
draw away disciples after them.
KJV
Idol Worship
Ps
115:4-8
4
Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
5
They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
6
They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
7
They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk
not: neither speak they through their throat.
8
They that make them are like unto them; so
is every one that trusteth in them.
KJV
Eph
5:3-5
3
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be
once named among you, as becometh saints;
4
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not
convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous
man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ
and of God.
KJV
Col
3:5
5
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication,
uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness,
which is idolatry:
KJV
1 Sam 5:2-4
2 When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into
the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
3 And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon
was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And
they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.
4 And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon
was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and
the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon
the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.
KJV
WARNING
2
Cor 6:15-17
15
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that
believeth with an infidel?
16
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the
temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and
walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17
Wherefore come out from among them, and
be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and
I will receive you,
KJV
Acts
17:29-30

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think
that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art
and man's device.
30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all
men every where to repent:

he?
KJV
1

11
But now I have written unto you not to keep
company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator,
or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner;
with such an one no not to eat.
KJV
1
John 5:21

Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
Amen.
KJV

8
Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by
nature are no gods.
9
But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how
turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto
ye desire again to be in bondage?
KJV
